Nissyros island – Volcano & Nikia tour

The island
of Nisyros is famous for the volcano and for its wild beauty and striking
colors.

We depart
with the boat from Kardamena to Nisyros, which takes only 45 minutes. Then a
short bus journey takes you over 2000ft into the breathtaking terraced hills
before descending into the valley where the volcanic crater lies. You can walk
inside the caldera and see the bubbling mud-holes and steaming springs of this
active volcano!

Then we
visit Nikia the traditional and picturesque mountain village. It is located on
the highest point of Nisyros from which you have a great view of the crater and
the neighboring islands.

Afterward
ride back to Mandraki where you have time to walk the tiny streets, browse
through the local goods or climb up the 133 steps to the famous monastery
“Madonna of the caves” on the hillside overlooking the town with a fantastic
view of the sea!

Return time: 17:00-17:30
