Hiking to Kroustas’ Historical Nature Park

Our meeting point
for the excursion is set outside the elementary school of Kroustas at 09.00
a.m.

From there, we
will head at the area called  “Tourkises” in the heart of the forest of
Krousta.

Together we will
wander through the historical and natural forest of Krousta where we will
follow the ancient Minoan trails to reach our first destination, the Fortezza.

Along the way, we
will cross the path that leads to the valley of Korakia, exploring the flora
and fauna of the area. There, we will also explore the old lodgings of the
area, walking through stunning old oak trees, grand pine trees and lush maple
trees. At the same time, we will be informed about the historical significance
of the area, passing through ancient Minoan buildings, old farmyards and modern
lodges (called metohia).

Our final destination will be Akis’ metohi (lodge) at the forest’s heart
where we will taste local Cretan dishes while we enjoy the view and Cretan
hospitality at its best.
