AG. NIKOLAOS – SPINALONGA

 Visit Spinalonga
and you will have the opportunity to discover the secrets of the island and the
special history behind it.

On top of that,
you may even enjoy the clear water of the bay of Kolokitha and relax in Agios
Nikolaos, at its lovely harbor.

Before the arrival
in ELOUNDA, there will be a stop in order to take pictures of the scenic view
overlooking Spinalonga island and Kolokytha.

 At this point, the
boat will be about to go across the crystal sea to the famous island of
Spinalonga where our guide will introduce us to the well-known history of the
island that was once shrouded in sadness when it was occupied by the Lepers and
their families.

The next stop
during this amazing journey will be on the tiny island of Kolokytha where you
can swim while the boat crew prepares a delicious BBQ of grilled meat, salad,
wine and local fruits.

 After lunch, we
are to arrive back in ELOUNDA for our coach journey to the lovely harbor town
of AGIOS NIKOLAOS for an afternoon stroll or coffee in one of the cafes
surrounding the harbor.

 Afterwards we will
start our ascent on dirt roads while gazing the stunning views, and as passing
by the monastery of Agia Anna, we will reach the Limnakaro Plateau at an
altitude of 1150 meters, where you will also get to know the architecture of
“mitata”, the stone-made refuges of the local shepherds. The view from there is
so impressive and surely rewarding.

We will learn
several things regarding the local mythology and receive more information about
Crete and the local way of life.

Right after you
will enjoy an authentic meal, typical of the traditional Cretan cuisine in one
of the finest local taverns. Then, we will go through Seli where you will
certainly be enchanted by the landscape and the pictures you will take from
this point will be the best of your holiday.

 Furthermore, we will descend and reach the traditional village of Krasi
with its 2000 year old plane tree and the ancient natural water spring.
Finally, through a beautiful route with a spectacular view we get back to the
hotel full of memories.
